Doing Amsterdam from Paris in a weekend was easy. I thought my itinerary gave me a pretty good taste of some different sides of the city. The canal cruise was the perfect way to start it off, because I was able to get my bearings and generally get to know the layout of the city, while learning a bit about the history of the different neighborhoods.
Galway and the Cliffs of Moher
Harry Potter. The Princess Bride. These are just a two of the films that have featured the gorgeous and mysterious landscape officially known as the Cliffs of Moher. This last week I was lucky enough to walk along the edge of them, more than seven hundred feet above the ocean.
Parisians and the white sneaker

Montmartre and Sacré Coeur
Saturday afternoon, we decided to visit the Sacré Coeur basilica and the surrounding area, Montmartre. Montmartre is known as the art district of Paris, because of the large number of artists that used to gather there. Now, since most of it has become a tourist hotspot, there aren’t as many artists around, but you can still see their influence.
Transportation in Paris
Getting around Paris doesn’t have to be hard! In fact, it’s just the opposite. Transportation in Paris is relatively simple. The metro works excellently, and when the metro doesn’t get you directly to where you want to go, the bus system is just as good. You can get anywhere in Paris or its surroundings by public transport, even late at night, once you know what to do!
Pigeons at Notre Dame
As I’ve said before, Notre Dame is one of my favorite places in Paris. Even with all the tourists, it always seems calm in the area around it. Sometimes street performers play music by the Seine, and sometimes a bride and groom are having their pictures taken behind the cathedral. It’s always a nice place to be. Unfortunately, the pigeons also think it’s a nice place to be.
